Renovations to Second Cup

A general renovation of the Second Cup cafe at the corner of Phillip Street and University was just completed.
Wendy Barrett, the owner of the cafe, is thrilled with the images that have hung in the cafe in the past two years, and the repainting of the cafe in a neutral creme colour will certainly make viewing the artwork easier. In fact, Wendy has committed to the installation of a gallery-quality hanging system for the rear of the cafe to permit greater flexibility in how HGCC members are able to exhibit their work.
The hanging system will be installed as soon as it arrives. Jim Blomfield's images of Greece will be the first exhibition at the cafe, using the new hanging system, at the beginning of September - another announcement will be made when details firm up.
In the meantime, interested HGCC photographers who would like to exhibit their work at Second Cup can contact Glenn Paulley to arrange a exhibition date.

Jim Blomfield prints now on exhibit at Second Cup
Come out and take a look at the renovated Second Cup cafe, with its new gallery-style hanging system. Jim Blomfield is exhibiting prints of Greece (Sifnos) until mid-October.
You can take a look at Jim's images on his website, http://www.blomfieldimages.com.

Glenn, could you give us an idea of how much space there is? How many images can be accommodated? Is Second Cup willing to "manage" sales? Anything else that members should know?

Exhibit requirements
I've created a new forum on the website for Second Cup exhibits, and posted an overview article which should answer most members' questions.
At Second Cup there is room for approximately a dozen framed 11x14 prints. There are five walls, of varying sizes, which have the gallery hanging system installed. All of the walls have sconce lighting fixtures, which restrict, to some extent, the precise positioning of any frame.
The staff of the cafe, is really in no position to "manage" anything in terms of sales. Wendy, the proprietor, would very much prefer that an artist statement and contact information accompany every exhibition. Business cards are a great idea - Jim has his on display at the main counter.
I'd like to swap exhibits every 6-8 weeks, not only to give everyone in the club an opportunity, but also to prevent the display from going "stale". Wendy is thrilled with the new hanging system and Jim's prints of Greece, and has commented to me several times that her customers continue to appreciate the artwork and enjoy a new exhibit when a changeover occurs.
