Exhibiting at Second Cup: Overview

HGCC members can exhibit work at the Second Cup restaurant located at 150 University Avenue West (in the University Plaza at the corner of Phillip Street and University). The seating area at the rear of the restaurant has five short (60 inch) walls suitable for framed prints. Exhibitors should note that:
- All prints must be framed. The hanging system at the cafe utilizes a Perlon line-and-hook system, so frames should be securely made with a wire at the back.
- Each photographer should display at least two prints, and no more than twelve. Six to eight prints is optimal, though this obviously depends on the size. Because the walls have sconce lighting, it is difficult to display very large prints.
- Exhibitors should be prepared to leave business cards with their name and contact information. An artist's statement is an excellent idea - the cafe staff appreciate the existence of a statement since they invariably are asked questions about the exhibit from week to week.
- Prints may be advertised as being for sale, though the photographer must arrange for their sale. Wendy Battler, the proprietor of the restaurant, is pleased to support the club and does not expect any commission from the sale of any work.
- Artwork will be rotated on a 6-to-8 week basis.
- Scheduling of the exhibits and liaison with the restaurant are the responsibility of Glenn Paulley. The restaurant must be given appropriate notice when changeover is to occur. Set-up and take-down is the responsibility of each of the artists.
- Second Cup staff reserve the right to refuse to display any artwork that they deem unacceptable.
