Recently accomplished:

• Edited the member handbook, moved and published it on the new site
• Added a spot on the right-hand side bar for a random Second Cup image and the exhibition schedule.
• Added a right-hand sidebar section on the main page to display a thumbnail of a Member's Gallery image.
• Added the "Recent posts" menu item to permit at-a-glance browsing of the most recently updated content.
• Added support for classifieds, and added a tickler for recently posted ads on the right-hand sidebar.
• Added support for a newsletter - needs to be configured to automatically include website content, and mail out periodically.
• Moved the old newsletters over, and added a display mechanism for the most recent newsletter on the main page.
• Added an explicit link to the site's RSS feed.
• Added a "Personal Information" section for each user, and added menu items to list members and the Board of Directors.
• Cleaned up old site (left all PDFs, but removed posted images to reclaim over 400MB of disk drive space).
• Enabled creation of web links, and categorized them.
• Split the navigation menu from the "Contribute" items, as the navigation menu was getting too long.
• Added support for blogs.
• Changed the layout so that the event calendar was displayed on most pages, and the "Recent blog posts" block was displayed on the right-sidebar of any blog page.
• Added First, Last, Prev, Next, Gallery links to the display of images within a gallery, as per Carol's request.
• Prevented the calendar from being displayed on an image page (they can overlap) or on admin pages.
• Reimplemented the "Recent Blog posts" block to display the name of the blogger, and the date posted.
• Moved the Active Forum Topics section off of the front page, to be displayed as part of any forum page.
• Fixed the header formatting problem I introduced this week. Note to self: PHPTemplate doesn't like blank lines in template.php....
• Changed the theme of the site to LiteJazz from spreadfirefox. Colour scheme is considerably better, the menus are much clearer, and the additional regions make the layout much more attractive.
• Added a slideshow module, and integrated it with the Members' Gallery and the Second Cup image galleries (using the menus on the LHS).
• Edited the litejazz theme's "blue" CSS code to properly format classified ads with the new theme.
• Added a variety of RSS feeds to the site's News Aggregator, including two sites devoted to digital camera reviews and a feed from APUG.ORG.
• Enabled the "notify" module, to provide an email digest of website contents to registered members.
• Installed and configured the Drupal signup module, which will be useful to tie to specific events (outings and the May banquet in particular).
• Listed current signups in a block at the bottom, which will automatically expose outings (or the banquet) in addition to the "current events" at the top.
• Modified the PHP code to display content so that pictures are displayed only with specific content types: blog entries, images, forum posts, comments, and the user/Directors lists. Doing so removes some clutter from the main page (and removes my mugshot from a lot of the website's content, such as most of the member handbook).
• Created a view of all InFocus camera club newsletters, and added a menu link to it from the navigation pane.
• Added a block of latest Photodo lens tests, as summarized by the news aggregator, after the photodo website fixed their RSS feed. Removed the comment text from the "Recent comments" block so that both blocks fit nicely in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
• Created a new "favicon" for browser buttons and bookmarks, a black-and-white version of Ken's HGCC montage.

Remaining items in rough order of priority/do-ability:

1. Create an archive of colour and black-and-white versions of the new club logo.
2. Correct formatting of classified ads in the LiteJazz theme - something isn't right with the preview and abbreviated displays of classified ads, whereas viewing the entire ad on its own is fine.
3. Investigate ways to decrease the amount of spam sent to the club website, and to the club's email accounts.
4. Find a way to enforce 2- or 3-word usernames (which will decrease the amount of spam)
5. Edit all users so that they initially subscribe to the site newsletter (sent via email). Edit the personal information form so that the default for the newsletter checkbox is YES.
6. Create site user guide.
7. Convert the database used by the site to SQL Anywhere.
8. Create competition submission module, and integrate it with a new local reporting database for competitions.
